ABSTRACT
Introducción: La investigación educativa desempeña un papel muy importante para la resolución de los problemas y desafíos que existen en los diferentes contextos sociales, en el cumplimiento de las políticas educativas y para lograr el perfeccionamiento de los diferentes sistemas educativos. Objetivo: Analizar el desarrollo de la ciencia en la sociedad de la información, y en específico, de la investigación educativa como tipo de investigación que estudia la realidad educativa. Métodos: Se utilizan métodos del nivel teórico como el analítico sintético, inductivo deductivo e histórico lógico, para realizar el análisis bibliográfico de libros, artículos científicos, tesis doctorales, diccionarios y materiales disponibles a través de internet. Conclusiones: La investigación y la intervención no existen de manera separada, son complementarias; no es posible desarrollar investigaciones educativas sin la intervención y la transformación del contexto educativo; mucho menos realizar una intervención sin antes investigar(AU)
Introduction: Educational research plays a very important role in solving the problems and challenges that exist in different social contexts in the fulfillment of educational policies and in order to achieve the improvement of the different educational systems. Objective: To analyze the development of science in the information society, and specifically, of educational research as a type of research that studies the educational reality. Methods: The article uses methods from the theoretical level such as: analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive and logical historical, to perform the bibliographic analysis of books, scientific articles, doctoral theses, dictionaries and materials available on the Internet. Conclusions: Research and intervention do not exist separately, they are complementary; it is not possible to develop educational research without the intervention and transformation of the educational context; let alone carry out an intervention without first investigating(AU)

Introducción: Este artículo es producto de una revisión temática sobre la función de la disciplina principal integradora en los procesos formativos de la enseñanza superior. Objetivo: Exponer los hallazgos más significativos que enuncia la literatura especializada sobre la temática. Métodos: La estrategia metodológica se sistematizó a través de los métodos hermenéutico y análisis documental que permitieron estudiar, interpretar y cotejar el material bibliográfico. Conclusiones: La disciplina principal integradora es la columna vertebral del proceso de formación, que responde a la lógica de la profesión, integra los contenidos, métodos y procedimientos de las restantes disciplinas, con una perspectiva inter y multidisciplinar, en la búsqueda de respuestas a las exigencias del dominio de los modos de actuación profesional. Entre sus funciones se encuentra la organización, sistematización e integración de los contenidos que intervienen en el proceso de formación profesional, tanto de las asignaturas de cada año académico (relación horizontal) como de las disciplinas que conforman la carrera (relación vertical); diseño del trabajo científico-metodológico y laboral-investigativo, en función de la solución de los problemas profesionales y la vinculación del estudiante con la sociedad a través de la participación en actividades sociales, que transformen la realidad mediante procedimientos científicos, contribuyendo así a su formación integral(AU)
Introduction: This article is the product of a thematic review on the role of the main integrating discipline in the educational processes of higher education. Objective: To present the most significant findings enunciated in the specialized literature on the subject. Methods: The methodological strategy was systematized through hermeneutical methods and documentary analysis that allowed to study, interpret and collate the bibliographic material. Conclusions: The main integrating discipline is the backbone of the training process, which responds to the logic of the profession, integrates the contents, methods and procedures of the other disciplines, with an inter and multidisciplinary perspective, in the search for answers to the demands of the domain of the modes of professional performance. Among its functions is the organization, systematization and integration of the contents that intervene in the process of professional training, both the subjects of each academic year (horizontal relationship) and the disciplines that make up the career (vertical relationship); design of scientific-methodological and labor-research work, depending on the solution of professional problems and the student's relationship with society through participation in social activities, which transform reality through scientific procedures, thus contributing to their training integral(AU)
